Report: Anderson Silva vs. Kelvin Gastelum targeted for UFC Shanghai

A middleweight contest featuring former champion Anderson Silva and rising contender Kelvin Gastelum is being targeted to headline a UFC Fight Night event in Shanghai, China, according to a report from FloCombat.

This is a matchup that was originally scheduled to take place back in June at UFC 212 in Brazil, except Gastelum tested positive for marijuana following a March win over Vitor Belfort and his bout with Silva was cancelled after he was suspended three months by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. His victory over Belfort was changed to a no-contest.

Gastelum (13-3, 1 NC) went on to fight Chris Weidman in July but lost via submission.

Silva (34-8, 1 NC) is coming off a unanimous decision victory, albeit a controversial one, over Derek Brunson at UFC 208 in February.

The event is scheduled to take place Nov. 25 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. It will be the UFC’s first event in mainland China.
