Lite-Up Texas Program: Utility Bill Assistance

The Lite-up Texas program helps low-income individuals who live in a deregulated area reduce the monthly cost of electric service. The program will provide a 31% discount on your energy provider’s bill. Sign up for utility bill assistance today!

An electric customer is qualified if the customer is currently receiving Medicaid or SNAP. If you are not in one of the qualified programs listed above, you can still qualify in the program if your household income is at or below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Most Texans are required to pay an extra dollar for their power bill. On August 12th, 2011, it was reported that about $146 million was collected for the Lite-Up Texas program, but only $66 million was released and the state treasury kept the rest. Please spread the word about this program.
